Unleashing your pet brands full potential

70% of owners consider their pet’s food as important as their own.

The humanisation of pets has transformed the pet industry. Over the years, our pets have gone from just animal companions to important family members and best friends. We really take the best care of their health and wellbeing. Many owners feel closer to their pets than some members of their family. We celebrate their birthdays, buy them gifts at Christmas and we want the very best for them. This includes what they eat. We want our pets to enjoy healthy, balanced meals, just like we do.

And so the demand for premium products and food that reflects human diets has skyrocketed. A lot of pet food now mirrors our own eating habits, with names like Lamb Hotpot. Fish & Chips, and Beef Waggington. And images of fresh meat and vegetables, as well as lists of health benefits and nutrition, are key to appeal to pet owners.

The UK pet industry must continually evolve and produce food, toys and accessories that reflect the humanisation factor and the needs of today’s pet owners. Brands need to tailor their marketing and packaging accordingly – in order to reach their full potential in this competitive market.
